A Fancy Enough First Date

I graduated college just last year and was lucky enough to get a decent job offer right out of school. It meant having to relocate, and as I’ve been settling into my new town, I’ve been trying to find places to go where I can meet people and also a decent place to take a date to. Of course, having just graduated means I have a fair amount of debt to worry about, so I needed to find someplace that was fancy enough to impress without being so expensive as to be prohibitive.

I was surprised to discover some exciting chef driven restaurants in my new town. I didn’t think that such a small city could support such a diverse collection of fusion style restaurants, but it was nice to have choices that felt like they were part of the area and not just another restaurant dropped in the middle of town. I had gone to college in a big city and been introduced to many new styles of cooking. I was afraid I was going to have to say goodbye to all that.

Luckily I didn’t, and these casual fine dining restaurants had the accompanying bar scene that I was used to as well. It gave me a great chance to get to know some of my coworkers better and helped me feel more comfortable with my move. I had a first date just last week, and it was the perfect location: casual enough that we could both relax but fancy enough to still be special. I don’t know if was me or the meal, but we have a second date next week.
